Wilderness Edge Cabin

Experience Wilderness Edge Cabin located four miles west of the Nisqually entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. This charming 357 square foot cabin is located on 2.6 acres with lawn, gardens, a stream and forest. Cabin is equiped with a full kitchen with cookware and dishes, coffee and tea, queen bed, double futon, propane fireplace, picnic table and outdoor firepit. Sleeps up to four, hiking out your backdoor. Borders land protected by Siqually Land Trust.

    Our winters are not as mild as those of the Puget Sound Lowlands. The elevation here is about 2,000, so our winters are consistently cold (20 to 45 F*) from December until March.

    The cabin is located on a quiet, paved backroad away from the main highway. The land is part of the historic Hershey Homestead, thus providing a very rural scene.

  • Cabin Through Forest in Autumn

    Mature native conifer forest of fir, cedar and hemlock surrounds the land and cabin on the north and east sides especially. The forest also has maple, cottonwood and alder and a native shrub layer and wildflowers. The acre where the cabin sits is a sunny, organic orchard-garden.

    Hershey Creek is seasonal in drier years, it can retreat into its sandy, rocky bed in late summer.

    Thousands of acres of local forest includes designated wilderness, other national forest, state forest, and private conservancy land. Common wildlife includes elk, deer, woodpecker, bobcat, black bear, raven, mountain beaver, hawks, owls, coyote, raccoon, bats, cougar, western tanager, waxwings, geese, salamanders, varied thrush, native bees, dragonflies, hummingbirds, moths & butterflies and even small fish have been observed in the creek.
